THE PLOT

The people have spoken and it's official: our voting poll determined that "Outdoor Graduation" will be the title of our 2009 video, gaining an easy majority over the other choices.

Soooo, it's the sequel to Outdoor Education!!... and we can live with that.

Thanks to all those who voted and helped us make this choice a little easier. A big hug goes out to Reed Speedman for coming up with the name and sticking to it.

Stay posted as our teaser will be released within a week.

Intern Experience : Ep. 1

Zee Intern

Hey ! This is the intern speaking !

Darren, Bruce and Mason asked me about writing some short stories about the experience I'm actually living, which is being in Whistler for 2 months as the intern for Voleurz... oh no, not "the intern", but "zee intern" or "french beer opener".

So, first of all I should introduce myself, my name is Mathieu, I'm from France and I arrived in Canada last Thursday. My college wants me to work for a foreign company for 8 weeks to help with international commercial tasks.

That what I'm supposed to do.

Having lots of fun, partying harder that you could imagine, chilling in a nice chalet or at the beach, tramping, meeting some of the nicest and funniest boys and girls in the world... and my main job is actually opening Coors Light for the team.

I'll post some stories about the French Voleurz intern experience of all the things I'll see, live and feel.

Here's a couple of pics I took, it's poor quality because I shot with my iPhone, sorry about it.

I'll post more interesting ones really soon !

Chug Life on NS

So you've already seen our edit from JOSS, right? Well in events like these there's always bunch shenanigans that go down behind the scenes... especially when the weather doesn't cooperate. Yesterday, our new intern from France told me he "saw chug life 4, and you (Darren) were pouring booze down Peter Olenicks throat". I quickly logged onto my favorite ski site (Newschoolers.com, obvi) and checked it out.

Without further adieu, here is JOSS through the eyes of skier Ian CHUG Cosco:

cam schu

Joe and Cam Schuster drove from Vernon for the Whistler sunset park shoot last week and undoubtedly slayed the gap jump in true Schu family fashion. The next morning, however, called for some voleurz minishred on one of the final days of the Blackcomb park. In this episode they join Turpin, Bibby, and Hill as they bang heads and slide rails in sunny spring slush..

radical dragons

Whistler Blackcomb organized a shoot for Voleurz up in the park this spring on the Quarter pipe. Riley (tai-bo), Cam Schu (JBC), Joe Schu (Cheese Belly) and Chris Turpin, came out to shoot with Felix, Darren, and I. Under a nice warm sunset, we snagged some cool shots and had an awesome time. Healing vibes continue to go out to VDP and Ri-bo, who suffered shoulder injuries amidst getting gnar on the QP.

Our bi-annual fashion show went off this year at the Longhorn Saloon once again. With hot models, and savvy dudes, the bright and colorful new threads were unleashed amongst a fury of Coors Light beers. Babes, bikinis, beers, boys, choice.

Ramler UFD

Voleurz made a long journey to Idaho this spring to partake in a park shoot at Silver Mountain. Unfortunately, there were mis-understandings between management and the crews who came, and the shoot didnt work out on the proposed feature. We took it upon ourselves to find features elsewhere on the mtn, and were quickly shut down for doing so. Needless to say, it was a long trip for not much. Good thing the beer is cheap.

Whistler sunset shoot

Crew waiting

Longer days and slushy spring conditions called for a voleurz sunset park shoot on our home mountain Whistler.

We compiled a crew to session the 80ft true-table including snowboarders Warren Williams, Andrew Jackson, Nathan Ramler, Paul Welters, Scott Sych, and skiers Joe and Cam Schuster, Max Hill, Josh Stack and Leigh Powis. We drove up Whistler mountain on a snowcat only to be greeted by some intimidating rain clouds. A few hours of snow and hail prevailed as we waited patiently, finger crossed.

To our surprise the clouds lifted and we were blessed by a 45 minute window of diffused sunset light and orange clouds. The session commenced with some clean rotations by Warren Williams and Josh Stack. Joe Schuster with a cab 720 pre-grab, and brother Cam to follow. Andrew Jackson was stoked, being the only one to claim a 1080. Max Hill pulled through in a big way with the cleanest zero spin I've ever shot. I guess he doesn't just tap wood these days.

Big ups to Ryan Proctor, the Whistler/Blackcomb PR staff, Anto the builder, Lani the photographer, and the stoked ski patrollers and snowmobilers. What a great way to end another winter season.... bring on summer!

Vote!

Coming up with a title for a video is tougher than it seems. It needs to be memorable, relevant, and our riders need to like it. We've spent almost 6 months pondering over different titles and have come up with a finalized list..

So, this year YOU get to choose the title of our 2009 video, which will be released in November for free download.
